About
Welcome to Yasukochi's Sweet Stop, a charming bakery nestled in the heart of San Francisco at 1790 Sutter St. Known for its delightful range of desserts, this sweet shop has gained a devoted following among locals and visitors alike. As we step inside this quaint establishment, the aroma of freshly baked goods is both inviting and tantalizing.
One of the standout offerings at Yasukochi's is its coffee crunch cake. This signature dessert is celebrated for its unique texture and flavors. With a light sponge base topped by an unforgettable crunchy layer made from honeycomb bits, each slice tells a story of culinary craftsmanship. As customer Sandhya G. notes, the first bite is a revelation, transitioning from a satisfying crunch to a delightful melt-in-your-mouth experience.
While some might question the $8 price tag for a slice, many agree it's worth every penny for the quality and flavor. Jessica J. mentioned that while the slices may be smaller than expected, they do not compromise on taste. This sentiment resonates with those who appreciate a light and airy cake complemented by creamy toppings.
The ambiance of Yasukochi's is as delightful as its offerings. It's conveniently located near Japatown's Center, making it an ideal stop for a sweet treat after a leisurely stroll or a day's shopping.
For those looking to celebrate special occasions, like Toni R., the coffee crunch cake makes for an unforgettable birthday treat. With its delicate balance of crunchiness and sponginess, it's a cake that pleases even the most discerning palates.
In conclusion, Yasukochi's Sweet Stop is more than just a bakery; it's a treasure trove of delightful desserts. With its iconic coffee crunch cake and friendly service, it's a must-visit spot in San Francisco. Just remember to bring cash and prepare to indulge in a slice of cake that embodies sweet perfection.
“ So, after long trying to get the taste of that coffee crunch cake, I finally was able to go into the shop and buy that cake! Wow, the first bite was soo amazing and worth all the praise. Although the cake is a plain sponge cake, the top crunchy layer is a pure wonder - made of honeycomb bits, it just serves as crunchy for the first half and then just melts in your mouth for the second half :D It feels so light and not sweet at all and I was able to finish a slice in one go with having to have coffee in between!! Only thing is that the bakery / sweet shop only accepts cash and is located within a local grocery store. Be sure to carry some cash to get the slice of coffee crunch cake which was about 8$ when I bought it. The owner was very pleasant and also waited for us to get cash as she already packed the slices before we realised we didn't have any cash with us. Since its close to Japatown's Center, also plan for a nice stroll on a pleasant day or head to the east mall if you want to spend time indoors! ”
“ is it worth $8/slice? the jury's still out. the slices are smaller and more pricey than i thought, but they are dang good. i'm a sucker for a light, airy cake with whipped cream. definitely worth a try, but i personally can't justify the price for more than the blue moon visit. cash only! ”
“ I purchased their coffee crunch cake for my birthday and I have no regrets. It is so good, crunch, spongy, and the perfect amount of sweetness. I rarely eat cake so I'm glad this one was amazing. All of my friends enjoyed it as well, and I can't wait to get more next time. The staff let me know how to store it while transporting it to Lake Tahoe. It was delicious and I'm sure even better when fresh! ”
“ Famous SF cake. Delicious and spongy texture, whip cream frostings and delicious and unforgettable coffee crunch. Chocolate flavor is tasty as well. Cute little shop that's family owned. Service is fine ”
“ Got a slice of coffee cake. Enjoyed the crunch of the pieces of the coating on the cake. Cake itself seems to be vanilla with vanilla buttercream. Good but pretty basic with the exception of the crunchy coating, which was good. Reminds me of the honeycomb candy bits. Service was friendly. Location inside a grocery store so it took me a minute to figure that out. Cash only. Preorder required for a full cake. ”
“ My boyfriend and I finally got a chance to stop by here together since the hours of this bakery are a bit funky! They're only opened Wednesday to Saturday from 10 am to 4 pm. I remember trying this place a few years ago and think of it from time to time because of how delicious their sweets/ pastries are! When we were ordering, my boyfriend said "so.. I don't want to share.." which suggested we will be each getting a cake which was fine by me haha. We both ordered their Signature Coffee Crunch Cake :) and it's forsure my favorite item on their menu. The description of the cake - very light and fluffy sponge coffee cake with whipped cream embedded between layers along with "honeycomb-like" coffee candy sprinkled around the outside of the cake. The cake is def better when served chilled. This place is cash only and located inside Super Mira Market in the heart of Japantown! The market was overseen by a sweet lady and I believe the cake usually sells out fairly early but we were able to snatch a few slices when we were there around 12 pm on a Saturday! ”
“ A San Francisco classic. This coffee crunch cake is a favorite. A light, eggy castella sponge layered with whipped cream and coffee crunch candy. Cash only, to the right when you enter Super Mira Market. No seating - a take out only place. They sell out of slices, but do yourself a favor and order a full cake in advance! ”
“ The crunch cake!!! Ahhhhh They're famous for it and good reason. Are their hours limited? Yes? Do I get mad when I remember I have to have cash? Yes... But all that melts away with the first bite of the cake always somehow better than I remember. The market it's in is cute too and good for picking up some Japanese snacks or prepared food. ”
“ Read amazing review's about this cute sweets counter and knew I had to swing by! Located in Super Mira grocery store, Yasukochi's is a small and unassuming little bakery but has very yummy treats! They're famous for their coffee crunch cake and it definitely didn't disappoint. They have whole cakes as well as slices, which sell out pretty quickly. This place is so well known that my friends from the east coast that are familiar with SF stuff have even heard about it and have requested I take them when they visit. Would highly recommend! ”
